A U.S. B1/B2 tourist visa allows Filipinos to visit the United States for:
- Tourism
- Visiting family
- Short business trips
- Medical visits
- Not intended for marriage
It does not allow work, long stays, or living in the U.S.
Most refusals happen because applicants do not understand what the U.S. Embassy is really evaluating.
What the U.S. Embassy Wants to See
The officer is deciding one thing:
“Will this person return to the Philippines after the visit?”
This is called strong ties to the Philippines.

What Officers Ask During the Interview

- Who will you visit?
- What do you do for work?
- How long will you stay?
- Who is paying for the trip?
. - Never mention seeing a boyfriend
- Never mention getting married
. - Learn more about marriage to a U.S.citizen
Answers must be short, honest, and confident.

After a Refusal (214b)
A denial is common and not permanent.
