How to Apply for a Police Certificate in Japan

How to Apply for Police Certificate in Japan for K1 Visa Applicant in the Philippines.

There is one more important thing to bring during your K1 Visa interview in US embassy Manila and that is your Police Certificate. This article is useful for those applicants who have lived at least 6 months abroad especially in Japan.

If you are one of them, then be sure to check the instructions below. This post is also dedicated to those who are done with the K1 Visa interview but the case is still pending for Administrative Review for Police Certificate in Japan. I have posted a related topic in my blogs and I received many comments and all their questions were pertaining to AR on Police Certificate.

Instructions:

Step 1

At least 2 -3 months before your K1 Visa interview, you should apply for police certificate in order to avoid delays in releasing your Visa or to avoid Administrative Review called AR.

Step 2

To do this, go to the nearest Japanese Consular Office in your area. For instance, I went to Japanese Consulate in Davao where I lived.

Step 3

There were issues of bringing a letter from US embassy when you apply for Police Certificate in Japan. But I was never asked for that. I was just asked to bring my passport where the immigration stamped for arrival and departure in Japan are visible plus personal identification.

Step 4

The staff will give you forms to fill up and submit. You will be ask for finger printing. The staff will tell you what to do.

Step 5

Wait for 2 – 3 months and you will received a call from Japanese Consulate office to get your Police certificate. You can also call anytime for follow – up .

Step 6

Bring the Police Certificate during your interview.

Step 7

If you are already under Administrative Review for Police Certificate, all you have to do is to follow step 1 – 6 and submit your Police certificate together with your AR form and it will take at least 2 weeks for your Visa to be released.

We can also help your fiance(e) or spouse to know what procedures to take in collecting other Country police records as a requirement needed before her interview.
